Boat Launch Updates & Public Hearing

In addition to the exciting new fishway and the ongoing project of the watershed management survey, the WLA is still moving forward with development of a new public boat launch.

There is a public hearing (happening online via Zoom) on May 12th, 2020 at 7pm. Click here for more details.

Diano Circo, Chief Planner from the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, has formally submitted plans for the boat launch and casting platforms to the City of Augusta.  The engineering plans are available here for those who are interested.  The trailer launch includes seven parking spaces, with one dedicated for accessible parking only.  This includes the improvements to the bridge with casting platforms and formal parking off the road.  There will be hand-carry launches for paddlers near the bridge as well.  According to Diano, β€œThe whole facility continues to be designed with ADA access at its core.  We think it will create a much safer experience for folks using the site.”

Feel free to participate in the public hearing on this new boat launch by submitting questions or comments to Betsy Poulin, Deputy City Planner, at betsy.poulin@augustamaine.gov or 207-626-2365. During the meeting, questions can be submitted to planning.board@augustamaine.gov.
