Membership Drive, Watershed Updates, and More!

It may still be winter, but the Lake Association is hard at work, and there are important updates to share!

  1. The 2020 Membership Drive is in full-swing! Please support the WLA by renewing or becoming a new member today! Your support helps fund crucial projects like the recently completed fishway and restoration of alewives; the watershed survey, which aims to improve the quality and health of our lake; and maintenance of the boat landing and dam, among other things.

There are now 4 tiers of membership - $25 Alewife, $50 Osprey, $75 Loon, $100 Eagle. And of course donations to help preserve our beautiful lake are welcome.

  2. Here are some important 2020 meeting dates. Please note - the upcoming spring meeting date has changed. It's also moved from a Friday evening to Saturday morning.

Saturday, March 28th, 2020  - Spring meeting at Viles Aboretum Conference Room @10am

    Saturday, August 1st, 2020 - Summer picnic

  3. Visit the homepage of our website to see some amazing bird's eye images of the fishway, and a drone-captured video as well, taken by our own Greg Jolda.

  4. And last, but certainly not least, the Lake Association is making an aggressive attempt to restore the water quality of Togus Pond. After the Watershed Survey from 2019, the next steps involve a Watershed-Based Management Plan development project. This process involves a team of scientists, watershed managers and stakeholders working together to develop sound management recommendations for improving the water quality. This comprehensive project begins this month and will be completed by March 2021. The WLA has been working hard to cover the cost of this $25,000 project through help from the City of Augusta, Kennebec Savings Bank, potential support from Viles Arboretum, as well as other contributors.

Thank you, lake members, for all that you do! Please remember to pay your 2020 dues and consider making an addition contribution to the Watershed Protection Fund. It will take all of us to protect our beautiful pond and stream for generations to come!
